Yamapi:
When I was in Kyoto for the filming of [Byakkotai], I received a lot of fan letters at the studio. I read all of the fanletters I received, in the dressing room. I was really happy with the one that said "My entire family loves you!!" or the one that said "We record every T.V show that Yamashita-kun is on, and we watch it over and over again on video," and it made me happy that parents and kids were watching it together.
There was a single mother who wrote me a letter. In that letter, it said "there are times when it's really difficult being along, but I'm working hard to raise my child to become like Yamashita-kun." I'm happy that she's putting me as a goal in raising the next generation.
* OHMYGOSH!!! His first fan letter ever was as a Johnny Jr, while in Elementary School, he was brand new, and got a letter right away! It was from a HS girl!!! He will never forget that letter ne!
He read it over and over again! LOLOL! Back then they were able to personally receive all letters, and he carried them home with him! (Now they are probably filtered through a fan club or service of some sort).
* He says the letters today are much more meaningful than before. Before they would just say, "I like you." But now they go and talk to him about purposeful things in life, and he feels like it is in response to his Jweb Nikki comments (about weather and how it makes him feel, for example).
* For all of you wondering if he reads mail from other countries and languages...HE DOES!
* He received his first love letter of confession when he was in Elementary school but nothing came of it. LOL He also receives LETTERS FROM ACTRESSES he's worked with! NANI!!! I didn't see that one coming! LOL! Holy Crap! He says they all have nice hand-writing. Aww rather than stuff his letters in a box, he likes to carry some around with him in his jeans pockets... He likes to hold on to them! He may not remember the exact content, but he can remember the happiness it brings! SO SWEET!!!
* He was funny when he recalled the times before email and text messaging... when he had to use Snail Mail only, and it took 2-3 days to get a letter. When he would ask, "What are you doing now?" it wouldn't exactly be accurate anymore because time would have passed... by the time they received and and he got a response. LOL He's funny!
And here is the best part....
*
When he really likes someone, he writes them a letter! YEP! He likes to express his feelings in letters! Even if it makes him feel shy or embarrassed, it's important to him... he makes sure to write to those that are past that 'embarrassment' feeling. LOL And NO rough drafts for him. (Me either... I never write rough drafts)! LOL You can express yourself in a phone call or email, but, with a handwritten letter it is more powerful. Even though his handwriting is messy, he still thinks this way. (ME TOO)! "It immerses in your heart."
